So, after that the dentist starts with checking your oral cavity with mouth mirror and an explorer, he will check for cavities or pits present in your teeth which can lead to dental caries in future . You will be asked for taking a X-ray to confirm the presence of such caries .

The dentists then check for plaque buildup or calculus into your mouth especially on the lingual side of your anterior teeth, then the gums are checked as if they are healthy or not. Then an examination of buccal mucosa, tongue, palate is seen and cancer signs are monitored if any.
